Get a Library Card
Who may get a card?
Cards are free to children and adults who live in our service area. Our service area includes the Village of Pentwater, and Oceana and Mason Counties.
How to apply
Come into the library and bring a valid photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID card, Government-issued ID card including military ID, or a Passport. You must also show proof of residency if the current address is not listed on your photo ID. Proof of residency can be a utility bill (phone, electric, water), mail with a recent postmark, vehicle registration or proof of insurance, or a checkbook that has both your name and address. Children may get a library card towards the end of first grade, after their visit to the library.
Not from Pentwater?
If you are not a resident or do not own property in the Village, you may purchase an annual library card subscription for $25 a year, the card expires December 31st of every year. This entitles you and your household to the use of the library and Up North Digital (Libby).
Renewing your card
Library cards expire every three years and must be renewed in person, except for our annual cards that expire each year. Bring your current photo ID with proof of residency. You will not be able to place a hold, check out an item, or use our electronic resources until you renew your card.
